The Franklin and Grand Isle Counties Farmer’s Watershed Alliance (FWA) seeks a Program Coordinator to join our organization. The FWA Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the mission and vision of the board of the FWA with the ability to work independently within the oversight of the farmer-led board. This position will coordinate and advertise outreach events and board meetings, generate outreach materials, perform all administrative tasks for and assist with financial management of the organization, and represent the FWA online and in public. This is a half time, remote position with expectations of being regularly available for in-person meetings and events in and around Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, Vermont. Position Description

Job Title: Franklin and Grand Isle Counties’ Farmer’s Watershed Alliance (FWA) Program Coordinator


Basic Function: The FWA Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the mission and vision of the board of the FWA with the ability to work independently within the oversight of the farmer-led board. This position will coordinate and advertise outreach events and board meetings, generate outreach materials, perform all administrative tasks for and assist with financial management of the organization, and represent the FWA online and in public.


This is a part time, non-exempt position. This position is expected to consist of 1040 hours over a 12-month period (half time) with hours per week determined based on program and administrative need; no more than 40 hours to be worked in one week without prior approval. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required for board meetings and events. Generally, this is a 20 hour per week position.


Hourly rate will be based on experience. Anticipated range: $25 - $35/hr.


This position will collaborate with other FWA staff, farmers, the board, and other partners and organizations.

 

Anticipated Functions: 

●      Administer, coordinate, and provide leadership in facilitating multiple outreach projects and education events for the FWA. 

●      Provide oversight in meeting grant objectives, administer program delivery, evaluate outcomes, and suggest and implement changes to ensure consistency of services, goals and objectives.

●      Provide organization and foresight on deadlines and requirements of multiple ongoing projects; may identify potential funding sources and assist in preparation of competitive proposals, summaries, and administrative and project reports. 

●      Oversee maintenance of files, records, mail, mailing lists, and contractual agreements.

●      Use judgment in prioritizing workflow and design and implementing short- and long-term goals. 

●      Administer timelines on grants and long-term projects, as well as workshops, field days, conferences, and other events. 

●      Manage operational and administrative activities, communications, and programs to ensure consistency with mission and goals, organization quality, financial responsibility, effectiveness, and integrity based on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the FWA’s mission. 

●      Assist with financial management of the organization in partnership with a contracted bookkeeper.

●      Oversee or create documentation, correspondence, publications, proposals, or promotional/instructional materials related to the FWA.

●      Coordinate internal/external resources, facilitate meetings, speakers, and/or committees; participate in or develop programs, workshops, and presentations designed to support or improve outreach efforts. 

●      Develop and distribute promotional and instructional materials for events, such as brochures, online announcements, and handouts; manage registration and mailing.  Initiate and promote outreach and marketing activities to broaden community interest and participation.


Physical Demands and Work Conditions: This is a remote position with expectations of being regularly available for in-person meetings and events in and around Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, Vermont.

This position may require some physical activity associated with programming activities.  May involve possible exposure to inclement weather and irregular hours.


Minimum Qualifications: Experience coordinating or leading group events is required. Applicants should have strong human relationship skills and effective communication skills for audiences such as farmers, the board, and the general public.  Must have strong writing skills and be proficient in the use of standard computer software systems.  Background in agriculture is preferred.  Ability to work independently within the oversight of a farmer-led board.
